CAMELIDynamics 2004 Fall Newsletter
Grateful Greetings!
The leaves are just about gone in Bend and another year is nearing its end...I hope this year has brought happy healthy llama and alpaca babies, adventures and good health. I am writing this from Australia as I am getting ready for the first of two 4-day clinics.
Down under, it is spring. I have been watching beautiful parrots compete with the chickens (chooks down here), and I have already seen a few roos. On walks at the end of the day I have been busy looking for a Goanna (a huge lizzard about the size of a small child that I am told hides in plain sight in the trees on this ranch). I will return on December 2. I will be checking my email periodically so don't hesitate to write, but it could take a bit longer for a response.
If your wondering about the 2005 clinic schedule, I will be finalizing and posting my schedule for next year in January. The next newsletter will include the new schedule and it will be posted on the website.
We have some great Camelidynamics developments on the horizon. Stay tuned.
Happy Handling,
Marty

PRACTITIONER PROGRAM LAUNCHED
Camelidynamics Four-Day Advanced Clinic was a huge success. Seventeen people from all over the US and Europe converged in beautiful Bend, Oregon for four days of learning and FUN. The use of videotape with our very own Videographer Brad Bennett absolutely transformed the learning process. It was amazing to see the difference before and after participants were able to watch themselves haltering and leading. The increased skill and confidence was amazing. We are still refining the Practitioner Program Requirements and Benefits. This program will train and qualify others to teach Camelidynamics in private and small group lessons. The guidelines will be completed and ready for web publication in January 05. If you would like a copy of the program, please send an email (marty@camelidynamics.com) and I will send you the completed guidelines in January.
2005 ADVANCED CLINIC DATES
Two advanced trainings are planned for next year. One lesson learned was that the time was too short so next year's clinics will each be five days long. Tentative dates are May 21-25 and August 27-31. Both trainings will be held in Bend, Oregon. These advanced clinics serve are for two types of students:
- Those who have attended at least one 2-day clinic and want an opportunity to increase their skill level, or
- Those who are interested in enrolling in the on-going practitioner training program to teach Camelidynamics to others.

TIP: Camelidynamics Cavern-o-Confidence
Take your animals on a confidence-building course.

One of the highlights of the advanced training was working animals through the Camelid Cavern of Confidence. This is a great tool we developed for teaching llamas and alpacas to trust the handler and is lots of fun. The Cavern-o-Confidence is a structure made with PVC piping that can be broken down and built up piece by piece. As animals are lead through the increasingly more confining cavern, they amazingly accept the challenge. This builds your animals confidence in himself and trust in you. We discovered just a few bugs in the prototype and will be ironing those out. Brad is working on a materials list and assembly instructions which will be included in the winter newsletter and will also be posted on the website in January.
1-DAY REFRESHER 12/28
Robin Roberts will host a 1-day refresher in Navasota, Texas on December 28 for people who want to take their Camelidynamics a step further. This is an opportunity to work hands-on to refine your handling skills. Prerequisite: Completed 2-day Camelidynamics Clinic. For more information contact Robin Roberts robin.roberts@americanaalpacas.com or (936) 870-3887
CORRECTION: INTERNATIONAL CAMELID QUARTERLY
In the last newsletter I gave an incorrect reference to the International Camelid Quarterly as the Canadian Quarterly. The correct title of this fabulous magazine is The International Camelid Quarterly and can be found at www.llamas-alpacas.com
