June 18-20: Annual Basic Handling and Shearing Clinic. Basic Two Day Camelidynamics Handling Clinic followed Shearing and Fiber!

Each year Marty teams up with other industry experts around shearing time to offer the annual Basics Plus Shearing clinic. Begin with Marty's ever popular Basic Camelidynamics Clinic (this satisfies the pre-requisite for the Camelidynamics Advanced Training) The following day we will host our annual shearing and fiber clinic taught by Tracy Annis Camelidynamics Practitioner and Liz McDannold Camelidynamics Practitioner and Fiber Artist. Learn how to set up your facilities for efficient animal and fleece handling, shear a llama with hand shears, learn how to skirt a fleece and what to do with all that fluff! Get a taste of carding, spinning, a knitting machine, and felting. Our shearing fiber day will also feature our very own fiber maven Liz McDannold and her perennially popular needle felting class. July 9: Applied Animal Behavior 1 Day Workshop
Instructor: Dr. Susan Brown
Using the art and science of behavior to enrich your relationship with animals!
This class is for caregivers of ANY species of animal, large or small
mammals, alpaca, llama, bird, reptile or fish. The class is 6 hours - using a
combination of lecture, video, in-class problem-solving exercises and games,
that will help demonstrate the principals being taught.
The course will cover:
Clinic
- The principles of behavior- and how ALL animals learn
- How to observe animal behavior more accurately
- An introduction to developing strategies for changing animal behavior and preventing future unwanted behavior (changing the environment for success)
- The basics of positive, effective and enriching training techniques that can be used with any species of animal.
Dr. Brown
has been an exotic animal veterinarian for 34+ years and has seen the need to
heal animal minds and emotions through environmental and behavioral enrichment.
She has also seen the need for appropriate and positive training that empowers
animals to regain some control over their lives. Dr. Brown teaches animal caregivers how to
understand, solve, and prevent behavioral problems as well as ways to
strengthen the communication and the bond with their charges. Caregivers of any
species of animal are welcome, including species such as (but not limited to):
alpacas, llamas, goats, chickens, reptiles, fish, dogs and cats, parrots,
rabbits, and ferrets.

July 10-13: Advanced Handling and Training Clinic (Pre-Requisite - Basics Clinic)
The Advanced Clinic is just the opportunity for anyone seeking a higher level of skill in camelid handling, the Camelidynamics-way! It is also a key requirement for those in Camelidynamics Practitioner Program. Your learning begins where the Basic Clinic ends.
You will:
- Have the opportunity to work with a large variety of animals
- Practice handling skills with hands-on coaching with individual feedback
- Practice teaching skills -- for those interested in becoming practitioners and instructors.
- Be videotaped and receive same day individual feedback from Marty on your handling skills.
- Learn Camelidynamics tools and techniques not taught in the 2-day clinics.
- Network with other Camelidynamics enthusiasts as well as, Camelidynamics Instructors, Practitioners, Apprentice Practitioners, and Handlers
