Jay Holland was a normal everyday “desk-jockey” running the family firm until alpacas entered his life in 2004. Then, whilst having a mid-life crisis, he embarked upon an intensive learning curve, found that alpacas were an ideal balance to the hectic life we lead, bought three pregnant girls and a young male and, five years later, runs over 50 alpacas and has given up the “day job” to concentrate on alpacas full-time with the help of his wife, Hilary.
During the last five years, Jay has continued to develop his alpaca knowledge and skills. He is an internationally known ring steward, a past British Alpaca Society director for welfare, an apprentice BAS judge, an alpaca shearer and, of course, a Camelidynamics Practitioner.
Jay first came across Camelidynamics whilst looking for a kinder way to handle his alpaca. Luckily Marty was teaching a basic course in Devon in 2005 and, sceptically Jay attended. O, how the world changed, Jay found what he was looking for and “Got it” almost straight away; talk about the penny dropping! He joined the practitioner program continuing with his education to become a practitioner and now finds great pleasure in showing others the benefits of Camelidynamics. As the only male practitioner in Europe, he seems to find a lot of work in converting other sceptical Barn Dogs!
