Apprentice Practitioner (AP): Nikki Griffith

Apprentice Practitioners pursue continuing Camelidynamics education through a great
deal of individual study and clinic attendance, as well as, practice teaching lessons to
others at no cost. This continuing education and practice teaching allows the individual
the time to more fully understand and practice the Camelidynamics techniques and
methodologies, while learning the additional skills required for teaching others.

As part of the learning experience apprentices provide a limited amount of instruction to a very
small number of people, at no charge. This minimizes the risk for the Apprentice,
Camelidynamics, the animals involved in the lesson, and the student(s) receiving the instruction.
Apprentice Practitioners will be evaluated by their students on both teaching and animal handling
skills. After each lesson the apprentice is also required to complete a self-evaluation of their
animal and teaching skills. These evaluations will be sent directly to Camelidynamics.

Raising premier quality alpacas is Nikki’s “passion” in life today! She and her husband, Collins, first met alpacas in the fall of 2002, when a local breeder took two yearlings to a fall festival event in southern Arizona. It was love at first sight, and by December, 2003, they had purchased their first three bred huacaya females. They re-located in 2007, and today their farm, Sandollar Alpacas in eastern Washington State, is home to over 40 suri and huacaya alpacas.

Neither Nikki nor Collins were in love with the way they had been taught to handle their alpacas. Each felt there had to be a kinder, gentler way. They met Marty for the first time at the AWE show in Portland, OR in 2007 and watched one of her free demonstrations. Nikki registered for one of Marty’s introductory clinics that summer as a result and was hooked at that point. She came home from the first clinic and told Collins that “he could no longer handle the alpacas unless he was willing to do it the Camelidynamics way” because she wanted consistency in the way they were treated. Nikki has since taken two advanced clinics, refining old skills and learning new ones. She was finally able to get her husband Collins to an introductory clinic this past summer, and he now “gets it”!

Teaching bankers and appraisers about real estate is Nikki’s “real job”, as she develops curriculum, travels and teaches approximately 40-50 classes each year all over the country. She recently opened an office for her new real estate appraisal firm in Downtown Historic Kennewick that is less than two miles from home, which permits her to come home for “lunch with the pacas”. She is hoping to replace her current teaching career with appraisal as well as teaching Marty’s methods of Camelidynamics.
