What is an advanced training?Advanced trainings are four days of intensive work with animals and people. The only pre-requisite is one 2-day basic clinic. We have a great time! It is hard work and intense but very satisfying. Advanced trainings are groups of between 18-25 students. Your cohorts will be a mix of brand new students that have never been to an advanced training before as well as students and graduates of the program at various levels. Practitioners teach many of the skills and therefore you will work with a variety of teachers including with me. You will be video taped working with an animal and will have an opportunity to go over that videotape with me. Each advanced training is different we do not cover all skills and techniques at every training. In general there is more attention to detail however each student learns what they are ready to learn at that particular training.

What is the first step to get started in the Practitioner program? The first step is to attend a Two-day basics clinic with either me or an official Practitioner 2. Attending a two-day clinic satisfies the pre-requisite to attend the advanced trainings. Individuals that are keenly interested in the program can get ahead of the game by beginning to keep case histories on animals and people that they work with. This can begin even before your first training. A case history is a simple journal that describes the work that you do with an animal or with an owner. Keeping a journal about your experience is the single most powerful way to learn how to use the tools and techniques as well as helping you learn from your previous experiences.

How long does it take to become a Practitioner? This is a hard question to answer for several reasons. Each student begins the program with a different level of skill, natural talent and previous experience, Some students have more time to practice and more animals to practice with between clinics. Much of the learning progression involved happens between the clinics rather than at the clinics and largely determines a students improvement and mastery of the skills. In general most people will graduate with the Camelidynamics Handler seal at the end of their first advanced training. It would take a MINIMUM of three years to complete the program and become a P2. The specific requirements are outlined in the program guide that can be downloaded here: http://www.camelidynamics.com/home/cam/smartlist_23/practitionerhandler_program.html
Remember the requirements in the guide are minimum requirements.
