How do I host a clinic? Each year Marty teaches approximately 6-8 two day basic clinics around the country. If you have facilities under cover and some enthusiasm and experience promoting and hosting events you might be selected as a host. If you can assemble a minimum of 20 people and have or can gather 20-25 animals for participants to use, and would like to be considered as a host, contact marty@camelidynamics.com and I will send you a hosting kit and a questionnaire.

Where did the word Camelidynamics come from? When I was writing the Camelid Companion I was trying to think of a word that would describe the way things ARE! For example when you use the “corner-grab-hold” method of catching you will absolutely create animals that will not come within arm’s length of you. This just the way things ARE…just like the laws of physics… just like the laws of thermodynamics… voila… Camelidynamics! It is my very own made up word that I use to describe the techniques and ideas that create a kind, safe, respectful, and fun way to handle llamas and alpacas. Back to Top

How did you meet Linda Tellington-Jones?I grew up with horses and after a long break from the world of horses I acquired a 17 hand black thoroughbred stallion. At the time Tamatave entered my life I had been living and loving llamas for about five years. I was writing for many of the llama trade publications and when I heard about I attended one of Linda’s clinics to learn how to train my huge thoroughbred stallion. I called Linda and miracles of miracles she was home! I asked if she might like to visit my farm and work with my llamas and I would write an article about her for Llamas Magazine. The llamas were only an excuse to get Linda to my farm. Back then llamas were very unusual and worthy of a private visit from a world famous horse trainer - my mere horse wouldn’t never have helped me pull that off. Ironically, I didn’t really expect much from Linda’s work with my llamas she was a horse trainer and I already knew all there was to know about llamas. Linda did some very simple things with my llamas… massaged their heads and mouths and wait…they liked it! My wildest llama closed his eyes and almost went to sleep as Linda gently worked with his lips and gums. “No this can’t be true” I gasped, “these animals hate to be touched on the head and you certainly can’t touch their mouths!” Immediately after this I attached myself to Linda like velcro and a few years later co-authored my first book about training llamas with Linda. The rest as they say is history.

What is the relationship of Camelidynamics and TTEAM?The foundation and guiding principals of Camelidynamics are the ideas that I learned from Linda Tellington-Jones the inventor of TTEAM and the TTouch. I use many of her techniques specifically for example the body wrap, the leading work, the labyrinth and the TTouch. I have also added to the work based on the different problems and challenges inherent in working specifically with camelids. The catch rope, using the wand for catching, the midline catch the bracelet, the way we trim toenails the four point, organizing for shearing, the herd management work including injections the 4Point approach are all specific to Camelidynamics and are not a part of the TTEAM/TTouch curriculum. Camelidynamics is the word that describes both things taken together. I am still an avid student of TTEAM and the TTouch. I am the official instructor for TTEAM and the TTouch for Camelids. Students of either program can transfer much of what they learn between the TTEAM and TTouch program and Camelidynamics and may be able to shorten one program with extensive experience with the other. However they are two different programs.

I am just getting started and don’t even have any animals yet should I come to a clinic?ABSOLUTELY! That may be the best time to attend. A clinic is a great way to meet your first camelid and find out about what is involved in living with and caring for them. You will meet other like minded camelid enthusiasts, have lots of fun and learn a ton about managing, training and handling camelids. The clinic includes quite a lot of information about setting up your farm or ranch so that in and of itself makes it a good bet for anyone just getting started. Back to Top

Is Marty ever at home?Sure I am! When ever if I am not teaching I am usually home with my wonderful husband Brad, our dogs, cats, chickens llamas and alpacas. These days I do a fair bit of teaching at home because we now have a wonderful 10 acre parcel in Bend Oregon where we have created a fabulous training center. The idea is that more and more you can come see me instead of me being on the road all the time! When I am not at home you can always keep track of me by having a look at my calendar. Maybe I will be coming to a "theater" near you, if not always keep an eye out for practitioner events and workshops around the world by visiting the practitioner calendar.

Can you use Camelidynamics with llamas too?Of course you can use Camelidynamics with llamas. Camelidynamics is for anyone who loves llamas or alpacas! In fact way back when Camelidynamics was invented there wasn't an alpaca industry! It was all about llamas back then. Back to Top
