Find a Camelidynamics Practitioner

Here's the list of Camelidynamics Practitioners qualified to teach the Camelidynamics approach to llama and alpaca training and handling. All certified individuals have graduated from a course of study and are personally endorsed by Marty McGee Bennett∗. The program is new (less than a year), and we are graduating individuals at various levels regularly. Bookmark and visit this page often to keep updated on any newly certified Practitioners in your area.

Soon after my husband Bob and I decided to purchase our first alpacas, I read a book which would eventually change my life.

Enchanted as we were by the animals themselves, we were uncomfortable with the handling methods we encountered at some of the farms we visited. I had trained dogs and horses for most of my life; these timid creatures, however, obviously required a different set of skills, and I determined to find it.

And there it was, in The Camelid Companion, just released and making absolute, beautiful sense. By the time our first girls arrived a week later I had committed much of the book to memory and Bob had built a catch pen. The techniques did, indeed, work! In addition, I had discovered that the author, Marty McGee Bennett, taught clinics at which one could learn them.

Since then I've attended clinic after clinic, year after year. Marty is constantly polishing the methodology, and I have been determined not to miss anything. At the same time I've been spreading the word among my llama and alpaca-owning friends. Eventually Marty announced that she was developing a practitioner program. The four-day advanced trainings in Bend have been incredible: watching and learning from Marty, sharing ideas with other students, refining my skills. Teaching my own Camelidynamics workshops, moreover, being able to share with others the training I've been lucky enough to acquire, is the most rewarding thing I have ever done. Thank you, Marty.

Julie Taylor-Browne from Cornwall, England is Europe's first certified Camelidynamics Practitioner. Julie attended her first Camelidynamics Clinic in 2003 after reading an article about Marty's work. In just a few short years, Julie has dedicated herself to the Practitioner Program, taken on the equipment sales for England, visited the US three times to attend Advanced Clinics and organized the 2005 Camelidynamics tour of England. She is also working toward her TTEAM Practitioner Certification for horses.

Julie and her husband Andrew live on Carthvean Farm in Cornwall England and operate Carthvean Alpacas (www.carthveanalpacas.com). Julie started keeping alpacas because she wanted to farm something that didn't involve killing. They are both Buddhist Lay Ministers with the Order of the Buddhist Contemplatives. Before Camelidynamics, Julie worked as a researcher and government consultant on sexual violence and child abuse, the area in which she gained a Ph.D.

Both vegetarians, the Taylor-Browne's grow almost, if not all, their own organic food, prepare it masterfully, and serve as stewards to alpacas, llamas, horses, all manner of barnyard fowl, and the beautiful and personable Golden Guernsey goats. Julie makes her own goat cheese, keeps bees and still finds time to ride her horse, Milo. Julie and Andrew are greatly aided in their efforts by an ongoing stream of WWOOFers from around the world. WWOOFers are Willing Workers On Organic Farms who provide volunteer labor in exchange for room and board. For more information about this organization, visit: http://www.wwoof.org/
