FAVORITE RESTAURANTS

High Tides-wonderful seafood. Try the Thai fish soup if you like spicy.

Marz-eclectic menu, really good food.

Merenda's-expensive but if you are wine drinker, they have over 100 wines by the glass and great food.

Toomie's-Great Thai food at very reasonable prices, great atmosphere.

Blacksmith Steakhouse-Voted one of the 10 best new restaurants in the UNITED STATES by Traveler Magazine 2004.

BEND WEATHER & ATTIRE

Bend is a high desert environment with low humidity year round. August is hot and dry with cooler evenings. Temperature ranges from 50s in eve and 80-90s during the day. A helpful weather site: www.wunderground.com/US/OR/Bend/KCVO.html

Bring shorts, long pants, layers, rain jacket, comfy foot wear with closed toes for outside work, a sun hat and sunblock. Also bring slip on shoes/slippers/flipflops for inside wear at the Training Center. Since we're working outside mostly in the pens and fields, we ask you don't wear your barn shoes inside.

Bend is casual dress, no need to bring dressy clothes.

EQUIPMENT

Please bring your "tool box" with halters, catch ropes, leads, taming the tiger ropes body wraps, holsters (no need to fly with nippers I will have them) if you have them and mark your gear so that you can recognize it. No need to bring wands or I will have plenty of those here. I promise that this year we will have an efficient system for handling the gear "issue." Please bring your gear!
